ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The ABQ BioPark is getting closer to opening a facility promoting better lives for its aquatic creatures. KRQE News 13 got a behind-the-scenes look at how the building will help make sure visitors get to see fish at their healthiest.

“Anytime I can get a chance to come and see the fish and the sharks, I do,” said one visitor at the ABQ BioPark Aquarium.
With thousands of visitors each year, the aquarium has a big job, caring for all the species that live there. Construction of the new Science, Health, and Aquatic Research Center, or ‘SHARC,’ is expected to help with just that. “This facility will just expand not only in size for the animals, but in size for our holding facilities the already great care we give for our animals,” said Aquarium Curator at the ABQ BioPark, Theresa Nietfeld…
