ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The American Indian Movement held a prayer walk Saturday to bring awareness to the missing and murdered Indigenous people movement. The walk began at the intersection of Wyoming and Central and ended at the Albuquerque Liberation Center.
Organizers say one of the main reasons for the prayer walk is to bring awareness to a Native American 28-year-old who recently went missing. Community members say they hoped to draw attention to the hundreds of other missing and murdered Indigenous people throughout New Mexico.

“We need to make more noise in the state, especially here in Albuquerque, we have the highest rate of people going missing here, and it has to stop. I pray those that are behind this that they need to take accountability,” said a member of the American Indian Movement.
