Tamaya rodeo raises money for horse rehabilitation

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The state’s top cowgirls came together for an all-women rodeo with the goal of supporting horse rehabilitation efforts across the Land of Enchantment. These talented cowgirls competed in rodeo events seen on the national rodeo circuit, including barrel racing, team, and breakaway roping.

This inaugural rodeo event is meant to drum up support and donations for the nonprofit Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program. The program’s president told News 13 that their mission is to give as many horses as they can a purpose through care, rehabilitation, and training.

“The goal is to help as many horses as we can. To keep the youth interested in agriculture, horses, and rodeo to promote this great way of life,” says Connie Collins with Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation. “We want to keep the western way of life going, and we want young people to get involved, and we want new people to get involved.”
