Community mourns UNMH nurse killed while crossing street

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexicans honored the life of 28-year-old Alec Montoya on Tuesday. Police say the pediatric nurse at UNM Hospital was hit and killed by a speeding driver near the hospital earlier this month.

“He really went above and beyond to make sure people were safe and cared for and healthy,” said Carolyn Brent, a UNM nurse in training.
