VIDEO: Albuquerque police shoot man attacking woman with hammer

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police (APD) released the video of an officer-involved shooting that took place in late September. When officers arrived at the apartment, they discovered a man attacking a woman with a hammer and opened fire to stop him.

The man police shot and killed was the person who originally called them to the Valle De Atrisco apartments across from Atrisco Heritage High. Brian Womack, 42, originally called, saying a woman was trying to break into his apartment. Officers tried to enter, but Womack and a woman inside would not let them in. Officers left and came back when Womack called them again, but Womack still would not open the door.

Dispatch got a third call from the apartment, and the woman inside could be heard yelling. Officers kicked in the door and saw the woman on the floor, and Womack hitting her with a hammer. One officer opened fire, hitting Womack…
