Snow and severe weather possible Friday in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Cooler weather is filtering into New Mexico and could bring some snow to some places and severe weather to others as Friday goes on.

High temperatures will stay in the 50s and 60s in northern and western New Mexico while other places will only get up to the 70s. Only Carlsbad is forecast to be in the 80s.

Possible Severe Storms?

A low chance of severe storms is possible with a 1-out-of-5 risk is possible in Hobbs. That’s all thanks to a cold front working its way into Texas, where storms could fire up on the state line with New Mexico.

Snow? S-No Way!

In contrast, some places in northern New Mexico – above 9,500 feet in elevation – could see some snow. Taos has a chance of seeing 2-4 inches of snow while Santa Fe and Durango could see some snow.
