ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexicans step up for each other in times of need, and right now is no different. Even more businesses and some people hurt by the shutdown themselves are putting in work to help those who will lose SNAP food benefits this weekend.
Many of those impacted told KOB 4 they’re going back to the basics because they won’t have the extra help the benefits supply to buy food. That means they’re relying on water, tortillas, rice and beans.
But as they’re thinking of ways to get by without that food help, they’re also leaning on their communities…
