EDGEWOOD, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s been six long months of frustration and uncertainty for people in Edgewood battling ongoing water troubles. Now, the governor’s office is stepping in, signing an emergency order to bring relief.
It’s been exhausting for residents in Melody Ranch in Edgewood, dealing with daily water problems. “It’s been a nightmare we’ve been living a nightmare without water,” said Roy McClellan, a resident. Behind the issue is the Melody Ranch Water Company, which serves about 75 homes in Edgewood.
Residents said they endured everything from bone-dry taps to barely a drip. To cope with it, Roy McClellan and his wife Brenda have been using a camping shower and manual pumping faucets, but it hasn’t been easy. For months now, residents said they’ve been living by the clock, getting just four hours of running water each day. “We’ve been literally held hostage to this water situation because we have to rush home in order to get water, in order to take showers and do personal hygiene for the next day because we both work full-time jobs,” said McClellan…
