ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The pets were all dressed up, celebrating this weekend. Albuquerque Animal Welfare hosted its annual Howl-A-Day Pet Parade and Costume Contest.
Hundreds of furry friends came in costumes to celebrate Halloween and Dia de los Muertos. The parade started at the Albuquerque Rail Trail, and event organizers said they wanted to help showcase the new trail to the community.

“It was so important for us to share this so that people know that this Rail Trail is going to just become a staple in our community,” said Carolyn Ortega, director of Albuquerque Animal Welfare. “Get to see these amazing companion animals, which always makes the day better, and also have an opportunity to recognize those animals that we have lost.”
A Mariachi group from Atrisco Heritage Academy led the parade to Tiguex Park, where participants could shop with local vendors, listen to live music, or even take a picture with the Isotopes’ mascot, Orbit…
