ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A member of the very first graduating class at an Albuquerque high school visited his old alma mater, and he brought a special gift. Dr. Nasario Garcia paid a visit to Valley High after graduating in 1955.
There, he made a big donation to the school library – a collection of all 35 books that he has authored in his lifetime. Him and the school staff hope that this visit and donation can inspire the students by letting them see what someone from their own neighborhood was able to do.
“We need to recognize someone like this, because he gives hope for our future. In this day and age and time students,” said Valley High School Assistant Principal Terry Dahl. “That’s my philosophy, they can do anything they want as long as they apply themselves. He came from a different era, it’s different than the modern era, but they still can do what he did if they believe in themselves, and follow their dreams.”…
