ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a story that shocked the community. Now, KRQE News 13 is learning more about the night when police said a nurse was hit and killed by a speeding driver while trying to cross the street outside of the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH). KRQE News 13 has obtained newly released police body camera footage from that night.

“He was in a white shirt, he should have blood on him,” said one officer in police body camera footage on Oct. 9. When officers arrived to UNMH to locate a suspect, they found out that the man had left the building on foot.
According to police, earlier that night, 28-year-old Pediatric E.R. Nurse Alec Montoya was crossing Lomas Blvd. in the crosswalk at Stanford Dr. outside of UNMH when he was hit by a car and killed. Police said Brian Boyce is believed to have been speeding and changing lanes in the intersection when he struck Montoya.
