On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns fell silent and all was quiet on the Western Front. The end of World War I in 1918 marked what would eventually become Veterans Day in the United States, honoring all those who served in the military.
From brewery owners at Bombs Away and Starr Brothers (and possibly other places) to many brewery staff members, there are veterans throughout the industry in New Mexico. We raise a pint to all of them, and to all the veterans we know in our personal lives. My father was a 20-year Army veteran, and I was actually born at Fort Carson in Colorado, spending my first eight years as a military brat with my first six birthdays in five different cities and three different countries.
As with so many other holidays, numerous businesses step up to honor those being honored, and a few of our breweries have joined in today (Tuesday). If there are any breweries we missed that see this, please send us your information and we will update this story throughout the day…
