Food influencer Michael Duarte, aka FoodWithBearHands, dies in ‘horrible incident’

(NEXSTAR) – Michael Duarte, the internet food personality behind FoodWithBearHands, was killed in a “horrible incident” on Saturday, his loved ones have announced.

Duarte, 36, was traveling in Texas when he was killed, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser organized to cover the cost of funeral expenses and costs incurred by his surviving family. The fundraiser’s website did not explain the circumstances surrounding Duarte’s death, but a spokesperson for the Medina County Sheriff’s Office in Texas said Duarte had been shot by a deputy after making threats toward the officer.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office told TMZ and USA Today that Duarte was the subject of a disturbance call on Saturday in Castroville. An officer allegedly observed Duarte “acting erratically” with a knife in his hands before he charged at the responding deputy…
