ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A judge has ruled a 12-year-old charged with murder can be sent to an out-of-state secure behavioral health treatment facility. Messiah Hayes, who was 11 years old at the time, is the youngest suspect charged with murder for the death of bicyclist Scott Habermehl.
Albuquerque man with extensive criminal history sentenced on drug charges
In May of last year, police say Hayes and three others intentionally hit and killed Habermehl as he biked to work. The juveniles recorded the crime and posted it on social media.
