Woman sentenced for shooting man during road rage incident in northeast Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman who shot a man in the back during a road rage incident was in court for a sentencing hearing Thursday. Judge Matthew Chavez sentenced Heather Lopez to three years behind bar for aggravated battery.

In November 2024, Albuquerque police were called to the area of Comanche and Eubank for reports of a shooting. The victim told police his truck was rear-ended. He said he started recording the incident, but that’s when police said Lopez pulled out a gun and aimed it at the him. Police said the victim took the gun, removed the magazine, and walked away but Lopez pulled out a second gun and shot him in the back and left. Soon after the incident, Lopez turned herself in, claiming it was self defense. Lopez was sentenced to three years behind…..
