Preventing outdoor and home fires this winter

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Colder weather usually means more outdoor fires in Albuquerque — and Albuquerque Fire Rescue says they’re already seeing that spike.

AFR Public Information Officer Lt. Jason Fejer says crews responded to 21 outdoor fire calls in the past 24 hours, and they expect that number to increase once the season’s first freeze hits.

“For instance, this truck has run about 20 responses in 24 hours,” Fejer said. “So, when we get into kind of that peak season, or some of that really cold weather, this truck will do as many as 30 calls in 24 hours.”…
