ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – She did the work in the ring. New Mexico’s Katherine Lindenmuth got her hand raised in a title fight against Kazakhstan boxer Angelina Lukas in Cairo, Egypt, last week.
The fight was for the WBA World Gold Superflyweight championship. The feeling of elation has turned to frustration for Lindemuth. She has been stripped of the title, with the fight now being called a no-contest. Not only has Lindenmuth been stripped, but she also said she was never paid for the fight. Lindemuth tells KRQE Sports that the promoter has made claims that she never took a blood doping test. Lindemuth said that she was never approached about a test and is awaiting an appeal.
“She is stating that I was doping because they are accusing that they went looking for me to administer the doping test, but I was never approached,” said Lindemuth. “The moment I landed in the U.S., I had already scheduled to take my anti-doping test, and we are excited within the week for that to come back to further prove what everyone already knows, is that I won fair and square,” said Lindenmuth. “She can not continue to be allowed to do this; it shames boxing, and it makes it all look bad.” Lindemuth said that the results of her test should come back early next week…
