RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – On Saturday morning, the Rio Rancho Police Department was out in droves spreading holiday cheer across seven grocery stores in an effort to raise critical food donations for St. Felix Pantry. Saturday marked the 17th year that the department and the pantry teamed up with the hopes of collecting enough non-perishables to keep shelves stocked ahead of the holidays.

The pantry has recently seen a 36% increase in the number of Sandoval County residents who are facing some level of food insecurity. “It’s a very satisfying feeling to know that not only do you help the community when we have calls for service. But in times of need and charity and holidays that we can step up and help these food banks get enough food for everybody for the holiday season,” said Captain Nick Army with the Rio Rancho Police Department.
Last year, the police department was able to raise over three tons of food for St. Felix’s food pantry. They hope to set a new record this year.
For those unable to attend on Saturday, the pantry is always collecting donations. The St Felix website has more information about donations…
