San Mateo Tower in Albuquerque catches fire again

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A fire broke out Sunday at the vacant San Mateo Tower office building that is set to be transformed into mixed-income apartments in Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded Sunday at around 12:31 p.m. to the tower. When they arrived, they found smoke from the upper floors of the building. AFR reportedly contained the fire within 15 minutes.

Damage was mostly contained to the elevator shaft in the basement, according to AFR. No one was injured. They’re still trying to figure out the cause and origin of the fire…
