Tuesday’s Five Facts
[1] Suspected New Mexico serial rapist sentenced to life in prison – A suspected serial rapist will now spend life behind bars for two of his crimes. It’s been nearly two years since 43-year-old Timothy Bachicha was convicted of kidnapping two Albuquerque women. In both cases, prosecutors say, Bachicha raped the women. Bachicha was a suspect in eight rape cases from 2018 to years earlier, each of them involving prostitutes. The state originally charged him with several of the rape cases, but later dropped the charges so the federal government could step in and pursue its own case. On Monday in federal court, Bachicha was sentenced to life behind bars.
[2] One person hospitalized after home explosion in northeast Albuquerque – An Albuquerque man remains in the hospital with severe injuries after a home exploded Sunday night. The blast destroyed the home and multiple surrounding homes were damaged. New Mexico Gas took multiple readings and did not detect any leak in the surrounding areas. AFR is investigating the incident.
[3] Dense morning fog in New Mexico before dry, sunny Tuesday – This morning many are waking up to freezing fog and dense fog in northwestern New Mexico.
