NEW MEXICO (KRQE) — Thanksgiving is over, but there’s a new turkey in town. The New Mexico Wildlife Center is introducing their newest ambassador animal – Mortimer the turkey vulture.
He and his sibling fell out of their nest after someone tried to care for them on their own. His sibling unfortunately passed. The wildlife center says Mortimer was too used to being around humans and could no longer be released back into the wild. He now he lives at the center, teaching residents about the importance of his species.
