UNM Invites Albuquerque Community to Annual Hanging of the Greens Celebration on December 5

The University of New Mexico (UNM) will host its annual Hanging of the Greens celebration on Friday, December 5, 2025, starting at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to students, families, alumni, and the community. Thousands of luminarias will be displayed across the Albuquerque campus.

The evening will begin with hot chocolate and biscochitos. A caroling procession, led by Santa, Mrs. Claus, Lobo Louie and Lucy, and a group of elves, will proceed to University House. There, a holiday wreath will be presented to UNM President Garnett Stokes.

The campus walkways and historic buildings will be decorated with luminarias. After the wreath presentation, the President’s Posole Reception will take place at Hodgin Hall Alumni Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public…
