Monday’s Five Facts

[2] UNM highlights efforts to boost incident awareness through campus safety initiative – UNM is reinvigorating a campus safety program, in the hopes of encouraging the campus community to say something when they see something. Under Campus Watch, the central campus is divided into 23 zones, each site overseen by at least one zone captain. Their job is to communicate an incidents reported to them to law enforcement. Students can make reports by logging into Lobo Guardian and reporting an anonymous tip or calling UNMP directly.

[3] Sunny, warmer, drier, & breezy weather –  A backdoor cold front moved into the eastern part of the state over the weekend. This brought in frigid air across the region with slightly cooler temperatures across eastern New Mexico. Similar conditions will continue into the week as a ridge of high pressure sets up across the eastern Pacific. This will keep our weather dry all across the state through the end of the week.

[4] MDC hosts annual children of inmates holiday party – The 21st annual children of inmates holiday party took place at MDC. Kids got to make arts and crafts for the members of their families who are incarcerated, eat a holiday meal and open presents. All presents were donated by MDC staff. Coordinators say many inmates struggle at this time of year because they aren’t able to see their families, so events like this are able to spread holiday cheer and give families a chance to create bonding moments…
