Peña wins another Albuquerque City Council term after Garcia concedes close race

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Klarissa Peña will continue serving Albuquerque City Council District 3 after challenger Teresa Garcia conceded their close race Thursday.

Garcia lost the race by just 69 votes, according to KOB 4’s data from the New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office. The margin was just three votes shy of triggering an automatic recount.

While the margin raised the possibility of her campaign calling for and funding a recount, Garcia said Thursday she “researched every option” and concluded a recount wouldn’t be feasible…
