LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) – A billion-dollar energy company is set to build in Albuquerque, but before their business starts here, Los Lunas is welcoming a key manufacturing site first. The building located on the north end of town is what Pacific Fusion’s calls a “build center,” a critical component of their plan to do fusion energy research in Albuquerque.

The project is to create technology that makes energy similar to how the sun works. The Los Morros Business Park in Los Lunas is where they’ll make key components for the Albuquerque-based project.
“We’re so excited. I mean the biggest operational decision we made in 2025 is where we’re building the billion dollar capital project and the world’s biggest pulse power facility and to make that vision real, we have to build its components and that’s what we’ll be doing right here,” said Carrie Von Muench, Chief Operating Officer & Co-founder of Pacific Fusion.
The 200,000 square foot Los Lunas facility will build what they call “modules,” which are about the size of shipping containers. Pacific Fusion needs about 156 of them. After they’re built in Los Lunas, the company plans to bring them to the soon-to-be constructed Mesa del Sol facility.
