Albuquerque teen faces charges after Instagram gun photos

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Prosecutors want an Albuquerque teen held in jail after police found him on social media displaying illegal guns.

Wyatt Ruiz, 18, faced a judge for the first time on Thursday on gun charges. Officers say they spotted him posting photos and videos on Instagram showing guns and cash.

New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez is questioning, why aren’t social media companies ensuring the safety of its users? This case is just the latest example of his frustrations.Police say they found multiple photos and videos on his Instagram, showing off guns and money. But they say it was this silver “switch” on the back of many of the guns he was holding that got him in trouble.
