In December 2023, investigators say that then 16-year-olds Adrian Martinez and Elijah Pohl-Morfin were playing with a gun in a car in the parking lot of Atrisco Heritage High School when it accidentally went off, killing Elijah.
KRQE News 13 talked with Elijah’s father shortly after his death, who was pushing for more education on gun violence for kids and for stronger gun laws. “Talk to your kids, search their cars, search their backpacks because it can affect your family as well, it affected mine, and I don’t want to see that for anybody,” said Elijah’s father to News 13 in January 2024…
