BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – On Thursday, Bernalillo County took a big step towards its goal of getting 1,000 people off the streets of the county by summer. Dozens of new apartments are now open for people transitioning out of homelessness.

“You feel unsupported, and it just feels like a dead-end road,” said Katrina Weaver, a woman who knows firsthand how hard it can be.
After separating from her children’s father in Virginia, Weaver decided to come home to New Mexico, only to face housing challenges. “I was homeless around four months. It was a hard time. I had prior evictions along with the income restrictions they have now; it is kind of hard to get in things like that.”…
