Rio Rancho Public Schools names new superintendent

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – For the first time since its inception, Rio Rancho Public Schools will have a new superintendent. During a special Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education meeting on Wednesday evening, the district selected Dr. Robert Dodd as its next top administrator. He currently serves as the director of school leadership and improvement for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. Dodd will assume his new role next March.

He said he is honored to be chosen for the job, and he’s eager to learn about the district and the community in the coming months. “I think Rio Rancho is going to find that I’m a very school-centered leader because that’s where the action is. That’s where our staff works so hard to ensure kids are learning and that they are supported,” said Dr. Dodd.

He will replace Dr. V. Sue Cleveland, the only superintendent in the district’s history. She is retiring after three decades in the position…
