ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque motel that was shut down by the city due to crime and code violations now has a new purpose. One that helps those overcoming drug addiction and experiencing homelessness.

For many, overcoming addiction can feel impossible. “The journey has been rough, it’s been really rough, but my family doesn’t even know I’m in this program, but I’m in this program, and I’m doing well,” said 20-year-old Christopher Aguilar. He has been sober for one month now. He’s one of 14 people currently living at the Tewa lodge motel, rebuilding his life with help from local nonprofit Unconditional Love.
