Plans to develop Albuquerque westside apartment complex move forward

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Plans to develop a piece of land on Albuquerque’s growing west side are moving forward, despite years of community and tribal pushback. “This is not about the design itself, it’s about the location,” said Mike Voorhees with the West Side Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (WSCONA).

It’s an area developers have been trying to build on for years. A piece of land between Kimmick Dr. and Rosa Parks Rd. on Albuquerque’s west side has continued to be at the center of controversy.

“I live in a neighborhood of single-story homes, that’s what we bought into, that’s the character of our community. And now we’re looking at a three-story apartment going up right next to us,” said one resident who lives in the neighborhood next to the proposed project…
