Developers begin work to transform former Wells Fargo building into affordable housing

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The sale is done for the prominent former Wells Fargo building in downtown Albuquerque, and the affordable apartment transformation is now quickly taking shape with millions of dollars in help from the county.

The 1970s-era Wells Fargo office building on Lomas Blvd. is continuing its shift into affordable apartments. Two developers, Geltmore LLC and Lincoln Avenue Communities, now own the property, soon to be called Lomas Tower, and $10 million in county funding is helping make it happen.

“So, on floors 2-13 will be the actual housing, and then on the first floor you’ll have the mixed-use space with still planned operations of the bank and then some other office and some other restaurant space and items like that,” said Marcos Gonzales, Executive Development Officer for Bernalillo County…
