ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A family in Albuquerque is picking up the pieces days after losing their home in a house fire right before Christmas. The fire took everything within their home, from their prized possessions to their beloved pets.
“I remember, like, waking up to the smell,” explained Rebecca Garcia. Just a little after two in the morning on Dec. 23, Garcia and her husband, Victor Aleman, were woken up by her grandmother screaming and smoke seeping through the cracks of their bedroom door, “I was like, ‘Well, go check out what’s going on,’” continued Garcia.

She says her husband ran out of the room to see the unthinkable, “He barged in the room, and he said, ‘There’s a fire. There’s a fire. Grab the kids!’”Garcia. recalled.
Within seconds, the entire family of seven was able to get out of the home, quickly realizing that nobody had a phone to call for help as the flames only grew…
