ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is launching a program to divert newly arrested people with mental illness from the justice system to treatment.
The competency diversion program is open to people charged with misdemeanor and nonviolent felony offenses, excluding DWI. This initiative marks the fifth program of its kind in New Mexico courts.
