ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — From an iconic TV show’s New Mexico house going up for sale to a startling sight in the middle of the state’s biggest city to elections, these were our top stories of 2025:

Rio Grande runs dry in Albuquerque

KOB 4 captured video in July of the Rio Grande running dry, giving people the rare chance to walk in the riverbed. This marked the third time in four years the river has run dry and the earliest in recent memory. The river drying out was attributed to a steady drop in snowpack since the 1950s.

Election 2025 in New Mexico

Despite 2025 being an “off-year” for typical elections, there was buzz around elections in New Mexico.

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller won an historic third term after surviving the general election in November and a runoff election in December. The elections also saw a newcomer get to punch their ticket to city council.

Meanwhile, Michael J. Garcia won his first term as mayor of Santa Fe while voters elected a couple of new city councilors…
