ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque nurse assistant pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday after she illegally provided care to hospice patients, almost killing one person. April Hernandez was charged with identity theft and multiple counts of fraud after stealing three nurses’ identities and providing care for hospice patients without a license. Prosecutors said a patient almost received a fatal dose of morphine.

Hernandez will spend the next year at the Metropolitan Detention Center and will pay more than $192,000 to the New Mexico Health Care Authority.
