Fight between city and bookstore over homeless camps heads to court again

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The fight between the City of Albuquerque and a local bookstore letting homeless people camp on their property is headed back to court.

The city filed an emergency petition in late-2025, calling for Quirky Books to stop letting homeless people stay in his parking lot and to clear the camp. They also fined the bookstore, claiming the camp is illegal and dangerous.
