ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A former treasurer of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union, Local 331, which is based in Albuquerque, is facing federal charges for allegedly misusing union funds for personal expenses.
Max Jaramillo, 58, served as treasurer of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union, Local 331, from 2014 through early 2024. He used the union’s funds to cover personal expenses, including alcohol, cigarettes, condoms, personal meals, and hotel rooms from January 2015 to November 2023, according to a federal indictment.
Specific expenses outlined in the indictment included three purchases: A $50 bottle of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a $44 bottle of Glenmorangie Original 10 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, and a $25 pack of Marlboro cigarettes…
