ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Three years ago, the Bernalillo County Sheriff pulled the plug on his department’s participation in a reality television show. However, he is now considering putting his deputies back on national television.

It has been three years since the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office appeared on the show “On Patrol: Live,” a national television program that showcases real events and arrests made by law enforcement. This exposure brought backlash to the department, as critics claimed that deputies appeared more interested in the cameras than in serving and protecting the community.
Sheriff John Allen halted the department’s involvement in the show after taking office, but he now believes it is time for a new approach. “And I want to make sure that we’re focusing on pretty much the morale, pretty much the structure we had, and make sure that we had the manpower that we needed. And I always said when I was elected, I would think about it when we had those things in place. And here we are.”…
