[1] Santa Fe community reacts to affordable housing development groundbreaking – After years of community pushback, an affordable housing development in Santa Fe has officially broken ground. The 22 acres of land just beyond the fence along South Meadows Rd. is on its way to becoming an affordable housing option and a public park. 42 townhomes, 64 condo units, 55 single-family homes, and a more than six-acre public park. Those are the plans for the $3 million Los Prados community being developed by Homewise, half of which will be used as affordable housing.

[2] Book banning legislation on docket for 2026 session – A state lawmaker has pre-filed a bill that aims to prohibit the banning of books at public libraries. Along with prohibiting book banning, the bill would require libraries to establish a procedure for people to contest materials deemed inappropriate, illegal, or inconsistent with the library’s mission. Libraries must also not retaliate against their staff, and failure to adhere to state laws will result in the loss of state funding. The 30-day legislative session is set to start on January 20.
