Recruit Sustainment Program: New Mexico National Guard Welcomes Seven “Home”

The Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) delivered seven newly trained Soldiers to their gaining units during a Battle Handoff Ceremony held on January 8, 2026 at the Albuquerque Readiness Center.

The ceremony marked the successful completion of Initial Military Training, including Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, for each Soldier. Unit representatives formally welcomed and patched the graduates into their new organizations.

The following Soldiers were recognized and assigned to their respective units:

  • PFC López Rufino – 111th Sustainment Brigade
  • PFC Vergara Jacobo – 111th Sustainment Brigade
  • PFC Lucero, Trinity – 919th Military Police Company, Fierro
  • PFC Fierro, Genaro – 642nd Support Maintenance Company
  • PFC Ortega, Myra – 1115th Transportation Company
  • PFC Martinez, Carlos – 3631st Signal Company
  • PFC Martinez, Gabriel – Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 615th Transportation Battalion

During the ceremony, PFC Fierro, Genaro was recognized for outstanding achievement during Advanced Individual Training. He was named Honor Graduate of the Small Arms/Towed Artillery Repairer Course and was awarded a LTC Caloca Battalion Commander Coin for his exceptional performance.

Additionally, PV2 Vergara Jacobo and PV2 Fierro Genaro were promoted to the rank of Private First Class during the ceremony.
