Shelter-in-place lifted at Albuquerque International Sunport

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque International Sunport is no longer under a shelter-in-place Monday morning. Officials initially issued the shelter-in-place as they investigated a “security issue.”

“The shelter in place has been lifted. Operations are resuming. Thank you for your patience and cooperation,” the Sunport stated on social media at 9:57 a.m. At about 10:30 a.m., the Sunport released a statement saying the shelter in place was issued in response to a potential security threat in the parking structure.

“This morning at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Sunport was advised of a potential security threat in the parking structure. Out of an abundance of caution, a shelter in place was issued for the facility, while an investigation was conducted by the Albuquerque Police Department. For a short time, ticket counters and baggage claim were shut down and access to the parking structure was halted. At this time, operations are back to normal and all areas of the Sunport are open. All inquiries as to the nature of the threat should be directed to APD.” — ABQ Sunport…
