Albuquerque, NM(KKOB) – The trial against an Albuquerque man accused of killing two men whose bodies were found inside the charred remains of a burned vehicle, was declared a mistrial by the judge presiding the case. Dakota Briscoe, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the 2020 killings of two men whose bodies were found inside a burned vehicle Briscoe is accused of setting on fire to cover-up the double murder.
The trial began Monday but was halted Wednesday after Briscoe asked to replace his attorney, telling the judge he wasn’t receiving adequate representation leading to the mistrial decision by the judge.
Briscoe is accused of killing Nathan Garcia, 39, and Eric Carbajal, 36, on Sept. 7, 2020, then torching an SUV with their bodies inside before trying to carjack two women at gunpoint, according to a criminal complaint filed in Bernalillo County Metro Court.
