Route 66 Remixed’s 17th art installation unveiled in Nob Hill at M’Tucci’s

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Route 66 remixed, an art-fueled road trip down the iconic stretch along Central Avenue, just got a new piece of artwork, which is the 17th art piece in the project. The goal for this artist was to create something tributing car culture back when the Mother Road was in its prime. In partnership with his father, they created an old truck visitors can sit in, along with a Route 66 sign.

“My father and grandfather traveled the route; they were uranium miners,” artist Nazario Sandoval said with his father Andy by his side. “So they’d travel that route every day. So I wanted to create something that was legacy and honoring them and our history.”

Sandoval said this project took about five months to build. He came up with the design on paper, and his father fabricated it, which he said made it extra special.
