ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Roy Sanchez has dedicated 41 years to coaching at Eldorado High School, including 33 years as head coach.
Sanchez is a New Mexico High School Coach Hall of Fame inductee and has led his team to three state championships with over 500 wins. “Eldorado’s won four, but I was the coach for three of them,” he said.
Sanchez’s coaching style emphasizes tough love, preparing players for both the court and life. He said, “They make you laugh every day in practice. Some someone will do something crazy or whatever, and they just you laugh every day. And the games are so competitive.”…
