ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque artist is disappointed Wednesday night after someone vandalized his Route 66 artwork. One week after it was put up, Rob Vanderslice said he received a photo on Tuesday showing graffiti on his artwork near Central Ave. and Unser Blvd. He said he worked on the project for three months.
The sculpture is the final installation of the Route 66 Remixed project, and the City of Albuquerque planned to unveil it this week before Tuesday’s high winds postponed it. “It’s really, really hurts us and the low rider community, you know, this is something we’re proud of.
