RIO RANCHO – More than 100 high school wrestlers, from several area and local schools, will be taking part this weekend in the New Mexico Activities Association’s state wrestling championships at the Rio Rancho Events Center.
More than a dozen wrestlers from Aztec High School will be looking not only for individual titles, but also for a chance to repeat as Class 4A team champions. The Tigers have taken home the state team title 21 times dating back to 1971.
Coached by Levi Stout, Aztec High’s wrestling team will be led by returning state champion Ian Vigil, who defeated Gage Sellers of Miyamura for the 127-pound title last year and has a record of 30-8 this season competing at the 138-lb. division…
