ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – For the fourth time since 2019, a group of Albuquerque city councilors is pushing to change Albuquerque elections to ranked choice voting and avoid run-off elections. “We’ve heard from the community time and time again that they want this,” said Councilor Tammy Fiebelkorn, a co-sponsor on the proposal.

It’s a renewed push to switch Albuquerque municipal elections to ranked choice voting after previous attempts failed in 2019, 2022 and more recently in 2024. “I certainly hope it is the time for ranked choice voting,” said Councilor Fiebelkorn.
