NMSU, Albuquerque Civil Air Patrol Group students launch rockets at Spaceport America

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Students from New Mexico State University and the Albuquerque Civil Air Patrol Group NM-079 completed a series of rocket launches at Spaceport America and earned their level one certifications.

Nearly 20 students attended the event, coordinated by NMSU student Joshua Davila, who is the National Association of Rocketry Section #982 president and solid propulsions lead for NMSU’s competition rocketry team, the Atomic Aggies. In addition, seven American Rocketry Challenge teams throughout the region also took part in Saturday’s event to conduct preliminary launches, according to the news release by Spaceport America.

“We, the Atomic Aggies, are incredibly proud of the growing community of local rocketry enthusiasts we are building connections with,” Davila said. “We’re thrilled to have local American rocketry challenge teams joining us for launches at Spaceport America.”
