HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Millions of Americans who previously had health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield Association may soon receive settlement payments as a part of a massive $2.67 billion class-action agreement resolving antitrust claims.
Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department expanding drone first responder program
The 2013 lawsuit alleged that Blue Cross Blue Shield companies limited competition and drove up insurance costs by dividing markets and avoiding competition with one another. While the insurers denied wrongdoing, they agreed to the settlement to avoid prolonged litigation.
A federal judge in Alabama approved the massive settlement agreement in October 2020.
Payments are expected to begin rolling out in May 2026 to eligible claimants who filed valid claims before the November 2021 deadline…
